It was just after midnight when a 26-year-old man who was driving on State Route 101 started to fall asleep, and he careened into an embankment. He, along with a 30-year-old woman and four children under the age of 10, were all injured and taken to the hospital. None of them were wearing seat belts, though an 8-month-old boy who was restrained in a car seat was not hurt.

The unidentified driver crashed through a guardrail near the entrance to the Tacoma Avenue South Bridge just after 4:30 p.m. and landed approximately 100 feet below on Sounder railroad tracks. The driver was pronounced deceased at the crash site. Southline Sounder trains were delayed. The bridge has been closed to traffic since February for construction. No one else was injured in that crash and authorities are investigating the cause.

The driver was driving his red 1993 Lincoln two-door down the onramp from east state Highway 500 to southbound I-105 when he lost control and struck the onramp barrier. The vehicle flipped and landed on its top. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

Vickie A. Goodno was traveling east at high speed about east of Zillah at about 6:50 p.m., when her Mazda Protégé colllided with a John Deere tractor then rolled over. Goodno was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced deceased at the crash site. The tractor’s driver, Ralph T. Vandermeuelen, 46, Zillah, was not injured.

It was about 1:15am when Huntley-Fife was driving her a pickup truck containing five other passengers south on North Wenas Road, when she failed to negotiate a curve to the left and departed the roadway on the right side, causing the truck to roll. An unidentified 15-year-old boy that was in the bed of the truck with no seat belt was ejected from the vehicle, and remains in the hospital. Huntley-Fife and all of the other passengers, which include Ryan Jahr-Gibson, 19, Nathan Janshen, 18, Jose Saavedra, 20, and one unidentified 16-year-old, were also brought to the hospital.

Granados was first driving east on I-182 when she was attempting to change onto southbound SR 395 but failed to negotiate the curve properly and went through the median onto the northbound lanes of SR 395 before striking on oncoming car driven by Ruiz-Alarcon. Despite the fact that Granados was not wearing a seat belt, both her and Ruiz-Alarcon were ok after the damaging collision.
