It was just after midnight when a 26-year-old man who was driving on State Route 101 started to fall asleep, and he careened into an embankment. He, along with a 30-year-old woman and four children under the age of 10, were all injured and taken to the hospital. None of them were wearing seat belts, though an 8-month-old boy who was restrained in a car seat was not hurt.
