An accident claimed the life of a 51-year-old woman at approximately 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the Hebron section of Carroll County. Mary Ellen Keller was driving her moped on Hebron Road when she ran off the right side of the road and crashed into a concrete wall about .8 of a mile north of Creekview Drive. The collision ejected Keller from the moped, killing her. According to a Trooper who investigated the accident, there was no evidence of drugs or alcohol at the scene.

A moped rider is in the hospital after a crash in Ewa Beach. It happened about 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning on Geiger Road near Essex Road. Honolulu police say the 26-year-old man was traveling east on Geiger Road when he lost control of his moped. He sustained head and internal injuries and was transported to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition. It is not known if speed or alcohol was involved in the crash. The man was not wearing a helmet.

A man has died after crashing his moped Thursday night in High Point. Police said Keith Even Martin, 56, of High Point, was traveling south on Old Plank Road around 7 p.m. Officers said he collided with a traffic circle at the intersection of Old Plank Road and Hitchcock Way. Martin was thrown from his moped and died at the scene of serious head injuries, police said. Authorities said Martin was wearing a DOT approved helmet, but the helmet wasn't properly fastened to his head.

The driver of a scooter was killed in a collision with a car at a busy Paradise Valley intersection as the morning rush hour got underway Monday. The scooter was northbound on Tatum Boulevard about 7:38 a.m. when it collided with the southbound vehicle that was turning left onto Lincoln Drive, said the Paradise Valley Police Department. Police said the driver had let several vehicles pass through the intersection and told officers he thought the road was clear when he started to turn. The scooter's rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The car's driver was not injured.

A 15-year-old boy driving a moped was killed in a hit-and-run crash in the northeast valley Thursday night. Alex Martinez and a 20-year-old male passenger were traveling west on Meikle Lane about 8:20 p.m. when the accident occurred. They were crossing Ringe Lane, near Nellis and Lake Mead boulevards where they were struck by an unknown vehicle, according to Las Vegas police. Both Martinez and the passenger on the moped were thrown onto the road. The operator of the vehicle that hit them did not stop or call the police.

A man was killed in a scooter accident in a shopping center parking lot in Santa Clara early Monday morning, a police lieutenant said. At about 4:30 a.m., police in San Jose received a call about an accident in a parking lot at 3109 Stevens Creek Blvd. in Santa Clara, near Winchester Boulevard, Santa Clara police said. San Jose police realized the accident actually occurred across the border in Santa Clara and notified police in that city.

A hit-and-run driver fatally struck a 22-year-old man riding a motorized scooter in Brooklyn early Saturday, police said. The driver was heading south on Highland St. in Cypress Hills when the he slammed into Elvis Batista-Francisco near Fulton St. at about 2:35 a.m., officials said.

A man died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a van just before 9 a.m. Monday on Perrin Beitel Road on the Northeast Side. The man was riding a scooter-type motorcycle southbound on Perrin Beitel Road when a marked Global Restoration Services van headed northbound turned left in front of the motorcyclist, causing the two to collide, according to police. The motorcyclist was pinned under the van and dragged a short distance, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said they did not expect charges or citations to be filed as a result of the crash.
