Driver of scooter killed at intersection after colliding with car in Paradise Valley, Arizona

The driver of a scooter was killed in a collision with a car at a busy Paradise Valley intersection as the morning rush hour got underway Monday. The scooter was northbound on Tatum Boulevard about 7:38 a.m. when it collided with the southbound vehicle that was turning left onto Lincoln Drive, said the Paradise Valley Police Department. Police said the driver had let several vehicles pass through the intersection and told officers he thought the road was clear when he started to turn. The scooter's rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The car's driver was not injured. Police were finishing up their investigation and the intersection was expected to reopen by midday. The victim's identity was being withheld until his family could be notified.
