North Carolina Highway Patrol says an infant was one of three people who died because of a vehicle crash in Bertie County Friday night. Two adults and a baby were traveling west on State Road 1001 near Colerain when their vehicle strayed to the right of the road, struck a ditch and crashed into a tree. Troopers say the vehicle caught fire, and 48-year-old Willie Lee Perry, 52-year-old Phyllis Perry, and 1-year-old Madison Perry passed away. Highway Patrol said the three shared the same home address, but it is not clear the exact relationship between them.

An 18-wheeler hit and killed a little boy as he rode a dirt bike his parents gave him for Christmas. Seven-year-old Tristan Mericle died after a tractor-trailer struck him Tuesday evening. Troopers and say the seven-year-old was riding a dirt bike in his front yard and drove onto Highway 97, right into the path of the big rig, as he tried to turn the bike around.

A 5-year-old was critically injured after a car hit a tree overnight in Auburn. The 21-year-old male driver and an 8-year-old girl have non-life threatening injuries. The car was traveling 90 mph when it ran off the road around 2:30 a.m. and hit a tree on Auburn Way South. Emergency crews had to help free the man and boy after they were trapped in the car. Authorities say the girl managed to get out without help. Police are investigating to determine if alcohol was a factor in the accident.

An 8-year-old boy and 65-year-old woman were killed Sunday morning in a head-on crash in Oviedo, in the area of S.R. 434 and the 417. Three children were involved in the crash, according to Seminole County Fire Rescue officials. An 8-year-old boy died, two other children in the vehicle, Kyle Deuter and Courtney Deuter, ages 6 and 9, only suffered minor injuries, troopers said. Danielle Deuter, 28, the woman driving the vehicle with the children, was listed in critical condition. The woman driving the other vehicle, Marie Radford, 65, died from her injuries, troopers said.

A crash Sunday in Northeast Austin seriously hurt five people. It happened around 6 p.m. on Dessau Road near Parmer Lane. Of the five seriously hurt, a man and a woman were flown from to University Medical Center Brackenridge in critical condition. Two children were taken by ambulance to Dell Children's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of another vehicle was taken to a Round Rock hospital. One vehicle was going eastbound on Bradbury with only one person in the car. The second vehicle was heading northbound on Dessau and had four people in the car.

A 3-year-old died in a crash in Putnam County on Sunday morning. It happened on U.S. 17 at Clifton Road near Crescent City around 9 a.m. Troopers said Gerard Buchan, 74, was driving a 1999 Ford Explorer westbound on Clifton Rd. when he stopped at a stop sign. When he started moving again, he didn't yield to a Dodge Caravan, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report. The vehicles crashed in the intersection. Ashley Thomas, 29, was driving the Caravan and sustained serious injuries.

The horrific crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday on Farrington Highway near the Kahe Power Plant. A young mother and her toddler were killed along with a third passenger in the car. Family members say the person who was driving the car is the baby's father. He survived the crash and is recovering in the hospital. Police believe he may have been driving drunk. There were two adults and two children in the truck all of them survived. The driver has a broken leg but the others no major injuries.

Troopers with the Louisiana State Police arrested Charles Moter, 58, on charges stemming from a vehicle crash that left three people dead Saturday afternoon. The crash happened on Louisiana Highway 343, south of U.S. Highway 90. Authorities said Moter was trying to pass a northbound vehicle when he came within a hazardous proximity to a vehicle driven by Nathaniel Malone, 31, of Duson. Malone steered left to avoid a crash, authorities said, but the front of Moter’s vehicle struck the right side of Malone’s vehicle.

A 39-year-old Long Island woman has been arrested for allegedly driving drunk with her two young children in the car, police say. Suffolk County police say Laquita Brooks was arrested after losing control of the car and striking a signpost and then a tree Thursday night in Huntington. Police say her 5-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter were seated in the rear and didn't have proper child restraints. The girl suffered a serious head injury and her brother sustained a minor head injury. The mother wasn't seriously hurt.

A man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in Santa Rosa Friday evening after allegedly causing a five-car crash that left three people injured, police said Saturday. Police said the collision occurred around 5:15 p.m., when a Toyota Tacoma speeding down Hoen Avenue toward Yulupa Avenue rear-ended a car stopped at a red light. The force of the crash caused three more cars stopped at the light to collide, causing major damage to each of the cars and leaving three drivers with minor injuries, police said. One of the drivers was taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries.
