A south-central Illinois man has died after a tractor he was driving flipped onto him. Kenneth Zarecki of Mulberry Grove died Saturday. The Fayette County Coroner said Zarecki, 65, was killed instantly. He says Zarecki was using the tractor to remove a tree when the tractor flipped and pinned him. Bowen pronounced Zarecki dead at the scene. The coroner's office is continuing to investigate the accident. Mulberry Grove is a village of about 600 residents in Bond County. It is about 60 miles northeast of St. Louis.
The only person seriously hurt was the driver who investigators say caused the wreck. Officers said they believe the woman was intoxicated. Dispatchers first started getting calls about her driving an SUV erratically about 6 p.m. The driver continued into Bellevue before she made her way back to Redmond. Police said she hit one car then, then another, after running over spike strips and crashing on Avondale Road. “The 30-year-old driver was actually pinned in the vehicle. She had to be extricated and was taken to Harborview.
A Kenosha congregation is mourning its pastor after she died late last week following a car accident at a McDonald's restaurant. A community memorial service is planned for 6 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Lutheran Church, 2001 80th St., Kenosha. The Rev. Georgette Wonders was going through the drive-thru at a McDonald's after 11 p.m. Tuesday, The restaurant is a few miles from Bradford Community Church Unitarian Universalist, where she preached.
