Michael Washburn was driving his motorcycle at a high rate of speed on McCulloch Boulevard in Lake Havasu City. When his motorcycle rear-ended a pickup truck, Washburn sustained serious injuries that cost him his life. He died about 3 and a half hours later at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The driver of the pickup was not hurt.
63-year-old Karen Johnson was driving an ATV on the popular Hell's Revenge Trail in the area of Moab, UT, as part of a private group. As Johnson attempted a challenging climb up an obstacle known as a "hot tub", the vehicle lost traction and rolled downward. After being airlifted to a nearby hospital, Johnson, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead.
