Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash in Cheatham County on Saturday afternoon.
The crash happened around mile marker 191 on I-40, when THP says a driver swerved for an unknown reason and struck a cliff face. The vehicle then went back into the roadway and came to rest in the left lane.
The driver, 18-year-old Gary Russel, was killed in the accident. Police believe he might've survived if he had been wearing his seatbelt.
The westbound lanes were closed for nearly two hours while officials cleared the scene.
All lanes are now reopened.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol has identified the Kentucky men killed Thursday morning when their car slammed into a tractor trailer at about 80 mph in Robertson County.
The wreck occurred shortly before 2 a.m. on Lake Springs Road at the Highway 31 intersection on the Robertson-Sumner county border.
A tractor trailer was attempting to turn left from Lake Springs Road onto Highway 31 when it was rear-ended by the car, according to the THP report.

The crash happened on Highway 231 near McKaig Road just after 7 p.m.
Police say the driver of a Chevy Silverado slammed into the back of the Nissan Maxima the child was in, causing the car to go off the left side of the road and eject the boy.
The Silverado then hit a Freightliner tractor-trailer before going off the right side of the road.
A woman has died after a crash last week on Sam Ridley Parkway in Smyrna.
Police said 86-year-old Lottie M. Hunter was driving a Chevrolet Aveo westbound near the intersection with Motlow College Boulevard about 5 p.m. Friday when she failed to stop at the red light, striking a Chevrolet Cruze.
Hunter was transported to the hospital, along with the occupants of the Cruze, Leonard and Diane Moore, both 55 and of Smyrna.
Hunter died from her injuries Tuesday, police said.
Police in DeKalb County are investigating a possible boating accident after two bodies were found at Center Hill Lake on Wednesday.
The DeKalb County Sheriff says a fisherman called around 5:15 p.m. after finding a body.
Police say two people, a man and a woman, went fishing earlier in the day around the Holmes Creek Boat Ramp off Holmes Creek Road.
The identities of the people who were found have not been released at this time.
