52-year-old woman and man in his 20s injured after being struck by hit-and-run driver on Washtenaw Avenue in Chicago, Illinois

A hit-and-run driver damaged a building and struck another car, sending two people to area hospitals Thursday night in the Southwest Side Gage Park neighborhood, police said. About 8:45 p.m., a driver in a Chrysler 300 traveling north on Washtenaw Avenue struck a Nissan Altima driving westbound on 59th Street near the intersection, police said. The Chrysler then struck a building on the northwest corner of the intersection, causing “significant structural damage,” police said. Police said the driver of the Chrysler fled the scene on foot.

15-year-old bike rider critically injured in hit-and-run car accident in Long Beach, California

A teenage bicyclist was in critical condition Thanksgiving night after a hit-and-run driver struck him in Long Beach, authorities said. The crash was reported shortly before 5 p.m. near 61st Street and Linden Avenue (map), according to a spokesperson for the Long Beach Fire Department. A 15-year-old boy was riding his bike west on 61st Street when he rode through a stop sign and was struck by a light-colored sedan, possibly a Nissan Altima, traveling north on Linden Avenue, authorities said.

Hartford police are searching for a driver who fatally struck a pedestrian early Sunday morning then fled the scene. Roberto Manuel Cruz, 34, of Otis Street in Hartford was hit by a car while walking in the area of 700 Maple Avenue in Hartford around 2:30 a.m. Nov. 24, police said. Cruz was taken to Hartford Hospital, where he died of his injuries. Police are looking for a silver or gray, 2003 to 2006 Infinity G35 with a possible license plate of Connecticut 582-XYM. The car's right front end is likely to be damaged, police said. It was last seen traveling southbound on Maple Avenue.

The New Orleans Police Department says it's close to making an arrest in Sunday's deadly hit-and-run accident on the Interstate 10 Highrise. Police say it happened shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday. Danielle Rhone, 29, and her nephew, 2-year-old Kaedan Body, both died. According to police, the car Rhone was driving stalled near the top of the Highrise due to mechanical problems.

A pedestrian was critically injured in a hit-and-run in Bellingham early Sunday. A suspect was later arrested. Bellingham Police say officers found a 25-year-old Ferndale woman at 1:47 a.m. at the intersection of E. Chestnut Street and Railroad Avenue. She had been hit by a car and the driver fled the scene before officers arrived. The woman was legally crossing a well-lighted street in a marked crosswalk when the suspect vehicle sped through the area and struck her.

Man killed in hit-and-run crash on Interstate 94 in Dearborn, Michigan

Investigators in Dearborn are working to identify a man who was killed when his car was struck early this morning on I-94. The man was headed east near Greenfield Road when his 1996 Plymouth was struck about 3:05 a.m. by a Chrysler Town & Country minivan, according to Dearborn Police. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The female driver of the minivan fled but was caught a short time later by police. She and her male passenger were taken to an unnamed hospital with minor injuries. The woman’s identity was not released.

A group had just wrapped up celebrating a woman’s upcoming birthday when they say a driver struck that woman near 2nd and Wyoming Streets in Philadelphia’s Feltonville neighborhood and kept driving Tracy Robinson, 31, was struck and remained hospitalized at Einstein Hospital Thursday morning.

A 12-year-old girl who was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Hallandale Beach last week has died of her injuries, police said Monday. Shania Jackson died Sunday as a result of the injuries she suffered in the Nov. 18 incident, Hallandale Beach Police said. According to police, witnesses said Jackson was crossing the road in the 600 block of Forester Road when a car swerved toward her. Jackson was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The driver hasn't been found. Police said they are pursuing leads in the case and are requesting assistance from the public.

Gurnee police are asking for the public's help finding a vehicle that is thought to have hit and killed a man and injured his dog in the Lake County suburb early this morning. The victim, identified as Timothy Fleming, 31, was found about 3:45 a.m. near the southbound entrance ramp to Skokie Highway/U.S. Route 41 from Washington Street in Gurnee after someone called police to say a man was down in that area, police said. Officers who arrived on-scene found Fleming lying unresponsive, next to an injured dog, police said in a news release. Paramedics found no signs of life.

Jerome Lee, 25, found guilty of striking and killing 5-year-old Israel Thornton with vehicle in Cleveland, OH

Israel Thornton, age 5, was running to catch a school bus to attend Village Prep School when he crossed Denison Avenue and was struck and fatally injured by a 2012 Kia Sorrento. Thornton was taken to a local medical center where he died. The vehicle's driver, 25-year-old Jerome Lee, fled and failed to stop and offer aid to the boy. Lee will be sentenced on March 5th where he will recieve as many as three years in prison.
