One person was struck and killed by a train Wednesday afternoon on the Westside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Police were called to West Beaver Street and Cougar Road just after 3:00 p.m. The victim's identity was not immediately known. Investigators said they were trying to determine the circumstances that led to the crash. CSX police were also at the scene investigating, making sure the crossing arms were functioning properly at the time.

A high school student and a bus driver sustained minor injuries in a bus crash in Orlando, officials say. The crash happened around 2 p.m. on Alafaya Trail near Whisper Palms Way. Troopers said the bus was driving behind a backhoe and the backhoe signaled with hand to make left turn. The bus driver though the backhoe meant to go around it so as the bus started to pass the backhoe, it turned into the bus. Troopers said the the extent of the student's injuries were not immediately known.

Five people are being taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a bus crash in West Palm Beach, a city fire spokesman said. The crash involving a Palm Tran bus happened about 10:35 a.m. at Eucalyptus Street near Dixie Highway. The injured people are being taken to Good Samaritan hospital.

Three people were injured in a four vehicle crash in Delray Beach Tuesday, according to Delray Beach Fire Rescue. Two of the vehicles rolled over as a result of the crash which happened around 11:15 a.m. on West Linton Boulevard. Investigators are not sure what caused the collision. They say three people in the vehicles that rolled over were hospitalized in stable condition. No one was seriously hurt in the other two vehicles.

A 47-year-old man died Monday morning when he was hit by a car in West Palm Beach, according to a police spokesman.

James Phillips of West Palm Beach was walking on Military Trail north of Shiloh Drive around 3 a.m. when he was hit by Earl Haynes, who was driving a black Toyota pickup truck.

Phillips died at the scene, which is an area that lacks street lights and has only minimal lighting from nearby businesses.

The use of alcohol or drugs is not suspected in the crash, according to police.

A 9-year-old child was taken to Bethesda East Hospital this afternoon after being hit by a car in suburban Lake Worth, according to a Palm Beach County Fire Rescue spokesman.

Crews initially were called to 1703 Lake Worth Road, where a Tri-Rail station is located, when a caller said a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. Firefighters found the child had been hit, but suffered only minor injuries.

Two motorcyclists die after a head-on collision with an SUV on Sunday night, according to Florida Highway Patrol officials.

Leopoldo Boyzo, 23, and his passenger, 23-year-old Jose Hernandez, were riding on Babcock Street in Brevard County when they tried to pass the vehicle in front of them, according to FHP.

They struck an oncoming SUV and were ejected from their motorcycle, troopers said. Both died on scene and neither Boyzo nor Hernandez were wearing helmets.

The passengers in the SUV suffered minor injuries and were taken to Palm Bay Hospital, according to FHP.

A Lakeland Police Officer was injured in a car accident Sunday night at the intersection of Massachusetts and Plum Street in Lakeland.

Officer Nicholas Pollice was driving in a marked police car in non-emergency mode when a vehicle driven by 49-year-old Emilio M Gonzalez drove into the intersection entering the officer's fight of way causing the accident, according to police.

Officer Pollice was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center for a broken wrist. Gonzalez was not injured and was issued a non-criminal citation for Approaching/Entering an Intersection.

Three people are dead and five others have been hospitalized after a woman backed her car into a group of pedestrians outside a Florida clubhouse. The Florida Highway Patrol says the accident happened Sunday in Bradenton, about 45 miles south of Tampa. Police says a woman, later identified as Doreen Landstra 79, backed her car in a parking lot at the Sugar Creek Country Club, where church services were taking place.

Police are on the lookout for a driver that caused a six-car crash in Apopka, with one person taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Apopka police said a car was stopped Friday night near the intersection of State Road 436 and Piedmont-Wekiva Road.

The car then sped away, possibly during a pursuit, according to police, causing a crash involving six cars.

The driver of the suspect vehicle then got out of the vehicle and ran on foot from the scene.

Police said the search for the driver remains ongoing.
