Pedestrian struck and killed by train at railroad crossing at West Beaver Street and Cougar Road in Duval County, Florida

One person was struck and killed by a train Wednesday afternoon on the Westside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Police were called to West Beaver Street and Cougar Road just after 3:00 p.m. The victim's identity was not immediately known. Investigators said they were trying to determine the circumstances that led to the crash. CSX police were also at the scene investigating, making sure the crossing arms were functioning properly at the time.
