A high school student and a bus driver sustained minor injuries in a bus crash in Orlando, officials say.
A high school student and a bus driver sustained minor injuries in a bus crash in Orlando, officials say. The crash happened around 2 p.m. on Alafaya Trail near Whisper Palms Way. Troopers said the bus was driving behind a backhoe and the backhoe signaled with hand to make left turn. The bus driver though the backhoe meant to go around it so as the bus started to pass the backhoe, it turned into the bus. Troopers said the the extent of the student's injuries were not immediately known. Troopers said 11 passengers were on the bus, including nine students, the driver and the bus monitor. One student and the female driver were taken to Oviedo ER with minor injuries, according to FHP. The school district, however, reported that no students were injured and students were taken home from Timber Creek High School. Charges are pending against the bus driver, according to the FHP report.
