Emergency crews investigating pedestrian accident near Tri-Rail station on Lake Worth Road.

A 9-year-old child was taken to Bethesda East Hospital this afternoon after being hit by a car in suburban Lake Worth, according to a Palm Beach County Fire Rescue spokesman.

A 9-year-old child was taken to Bethesda East Hospital this afternoon after being hit by a car in suburban Lake Worth, according to a Palm Beach County Fire Rescue spokesman.

Crews initially were called to 1703 Lake Worth Road, where a Tri-Rail station is located, when a caller said a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. Firefighters found the child had been hit, but suffered only minor injuries.

Officials at the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority, which operates Tri-Rail, said trains are running as scheduled and they have not been notified of any incident that could affect Tri-Rail operations.
