Two people died in a car crash early Sunday morning in Rio Rancho, police said.

The driver and passenger of a 2008 Toyota died from injuries suffered in the 1:54 a.m. crash near the intersection of Unser and Southern boulevards, police said. The intersection was closed for several hours.

A 2002 Infiniti hit the Toyota on Southern Boulevard and the Toyota then struck a light pole, police said.

The driver and passenger of the Infiniti suffered minor injuries.

The names of the victims were not released.

Five people have been transported to the hospital, including one woman who was airlifted due to serious injuries, after a head-on collision on I-40 about 13 miles west of Albuquerque according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office. One lane is open on westbound I-40 while the Laguna Police Department investigates the incident that occurred Friday afternoon, according to a BCSO spokesman.

A three-vehicle crash sent a motorcyclist to the hospital with injuries Thursday.

Officers and paramedics are at the scene of the crash near Louisiana Boulevard and Constitution Avenue.

All traffic through the intersection has been closed except for one southbound lane. Drivers should expect delays as the crash is investigated and the scene is cleaned up.

A 7-year-old Portales boy died from injuries suffered Thursday afternoon in a one-vehicle rollover crash on N.M. 268 near Curry Road 23, according to the Curry County Undersheriff. Waller said Dakota Myers died at the scene about 4 p.m. He was a passenger in a pickup truck driven by his 19-year-old brother, Kenneth Myers Jr. Kenneth Myers and his sister, Destanee Myers, 4, also a passenger in the truck, were taken to Plains Regional Medical Center for treatment of undisclosed injuries. Waller said the driver told officers they were northbound on N.M.

Northbound Interstate 25 reopened in Santa Fe early Thursday following a three-vehicle collision that officials said was caused when a vehicle went the wrong way. According to officials, the accident occurred Wednesday evening near St. Francis Road.

A Tucumcari man died and a Flora Vista man was seriously injured in a head-on collision Wednesday morning on N.M. 209 north of Clovis, a Curry County Undersheriff said. Joe Cooper, 76, died around 10:30 a.m. at the scene of the crash near Curry County Road 21, Waller said. Cooper was driving a 1996 Cadillac sedan southbound on N.M. 209 when he crossed the center line and struck a 2014 Ford Focus driven by Wenceslado Ruis, 32, of Flora Vista, according to Waller.

Officers and paramedics are at the scene of a motorcycle crash near the intersection of Eighth Street and Bridge Boulevard.

The motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Westbound traffic from Fourth Street to Eighth Street down was shut down Tuesday morning, but the lanes have reopened.

A 23-year-old Oklahoma man is dead after a vehicle he was in swerved to avoid hitting a dog east of Springer, NM, according to the New Mexico State Police.

A State Police spokesman said the vehicle, which was carrying four people, rolled over through a steel pipe and cable fence before coming to a stop on its wheels, killing 23-year-old David Michael Hamilton of Newcastle, Okla. David Hamilton was not wearing his seat belt, and State Police say he was ejected from the car.

Albuquerque police have identifed the pedestrian hit on Thursday as Theresa McRae, 67. She was last reported to be in critical condition. Eastbound Lomas has been closed at Broadway because of a collision involving a pedestrian. The pedestrian, who was hit by a car, has been taken to an area hospital and is in critical condition, according to police. Motorists in the area should expect delays while officers investigate.

At least one person died in a plane crash Sunday morning in Los Alamos, authorities said. The single-engine Aviat Husky crashed around 8 a.m. near the Los Alamos Airport by Canyon Rim Trail. A Los Alamos Deputy Fire Chief said there were no survivors in the crash. It is unknown how many people were aboard the plane. Both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating. Officials from both agencies could not confirm whether the plane was local or from out of town or if it was landing or departing from the airport.
