The collision occurred around 5:45pm east of the Teleford rest area. The victims, who were all riding in the same car, are identified as George Friedlander, 68-years-old, of Nespelem, Jake Walter, 28-years-old, of Omak, Georgina Walter, 32-years-old, of Omak, and a 5-month-old infant boy, Logan Walter. The truck driver, 57-year-old Gerard Kane, wasn't injured in the collision. No charges have been filed in this accident.
Alexsandrina Hyer was driving southbound on U.S. Highway 97 at about 3 p.m. when she attempted to pass a semi-trailer, but failed to yield, striking a northbound car head-on. Hyer was injured and taken to Klickitat Valley Hospital. The four children that were riding in Hyer's car were all injured. A 12-year-old girl was flown to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, an 8-year-old and a 10-year-old were taken to Mid Columbia Medical Center in the Dalles, Oregon, and a 6-year-old was taken to Klickitat Valley Hospital as well.
Two cars colliding nearly head-on on Highway 9 in Marysville resulted in the injury of four people, including a woman who is in critical condition, and her 5-year-old son who was takent to the hospital but was not seriously injured. Two Lewiston residents died in a car crash Saturday afternoon just after 1 p.m. on US 12 near Pomeroy, Washington. Martin D. Heieren, who was a Lewiston firefighter, was driving westbound in a pickup truck when he drifted over the center line and collided with another vehicle. Heieren died on the scene. His passenger, 4-year-old Nevaeh Davenport, was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, where she later died. All of the parties involved in the crash were wearing seat belts.

The 4-year-old girl in the SUV and both people inside the minivan were taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The man driving the Ford Explorer was not injured.
