Alexsandrina Hyer, 29, Allison Kooistra, 32, and four children injured after head-on crash on U.S. Highway 97 south of Goldendale, Washington

Alexsandrina Hyer was driving southbound on U.S. Highway 97 at about 3 p.m. when she attempted to pass a semi-trailer, but failed to yield, striking a northbound car head-on. Hyer was injured and taken to Klickitat Valley Hospital. The four children that were riding in Hyer's car were all injured. A 12-year-old girl was flown to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, an 8-year-old and a 10-year-old were taken to Mid Columbia Medical Center in the Dalles, Oregon, and a 6-year-old was taken to Klickitat Valley Hospital as well. The driver of the other car, Allison Kooistra, suffered minor injuries and was not hospitalized. Negligent driving charges are pending.
