A 40-year-old borough resident and his dog were struck by a car near the intersection of Anderson and Aurora avenues on Sunday afternoon. The driver, Yap W. Moon, a 68-year-old resident of Fort Lee, was issued summons on Sunday evening for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, careless driving and reckless driving. The borough resident was taken to Englewood Hospital & Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries and his dog is expected to make a full recovery.
Vanessa Uzong, 24, of Brooklyn Park, is in custody on felony assault charges after hitting 26-year-old Miera Horton with a car Saturday morning. The accident occured around 1 a.m. on the 500 block of Hennepin Avenue. Witnesses report Uzong veered her car toward Horton as she tried to get out of the way. Uzong’s car hit Horton, and Horton was dragged. Horton has been hospitalized in serious condition and Uzong has been charged with first-degree assault and jailed.
18-year-old driver Brook Hill hit and killed a 38-year-old jogger at the Eastonville Rd. and Tompkins Rd. intersection in Falcon, Colorado Saturday. The jogger was allegedly running the same direction as traffic, and made an immediate left turn as the driver came up behind him. The collision killed him at the scene. Speed, drugs and alcohol have been ruled out.
