A pilot who had thrilled audiences for decades with acrobatic stunts was killed when his vintage biplane crashed upside-down on a runway at a Northern California air show.

Sunday’s tragedy brought to a quick halt the “Thunder Over Solano” show at Travis Air Force Base, which was attended by an estimated 100,000 spectators. No one else was injured.

A motorcyclist died after suffering a medical emergency while riding with his wife near Healdsburg Saturday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol. The fatal collision was reported at 4:35 p.m. on Healdsburg Avenue near Alexander Valley Road, according to the CHP. The man, identified as 60-year-old Reedley resident Jeremy Martens, was on the 2008 Harley-Davidson with his wife, Leanne Martens, 59, also of Reedley in Fresno County.

The male victim of a hit and run collision early Saturday morning in San Francisco’s Mission District has died from his injuries Saturday afternoon, a police spokesman said.

The victim was clinging to life at San Francisco General Hospital following a hit-and-run crash around 2:20 a.m. He succumbed to his injuries this afternoon, according to San Francisco police Officer Gordon Shyy.

The crash occurred when a driver ran a red light at the intersection of Cesar Chavez and Folsom streets, broad-siding another car, according to Shyy.

Crews recovered the body of a pilot along with his plane's fuselage Wednesday, days after the aircraft crashed into San Francisco Bay following a collision with another small plane that managed to land safely.

The Contra Costa coroner has identified the deceased pilot as 33-year-old David Everett Plumb of Sacramento.

A marine salvage company retrieved the single-engine plane in an operation that was shown live by at least two news outlets. The body of the pilot could be seen in the wreckage of the Cessna 210, which plunged into the water on Sunday.

The two people killed early Saturday morning in a crash off of U.S. Highway 101 in Menlo Park have been identified by the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office as Taufa Toutai Pupunu, 27, of Redwood City and Gaudi Salgado Barrios, 26, of East Palo Alto.

The crash was reported at 1:52 a.m. Saturday on southbound Highway 101 near the Willow Road off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials said Barrios was speeding when she lost control of the car, which struck a tree, launched into the air and struck another tree.

Four people were injured, one seriously, Saturday morning in a head-on collision on state Highway 12 caused by an allegedly drunk driver, Santa Rosa police said Saturday. The collision occurred just after 10:30 a.m. on Highway 12 at Melita Road, when an eastbound Ford Mustang crossed the center divider and struck a westbound Nissan Sentra head-on, according to police. The Sentra overturned and landed in the westbound lane with people trapped inside.

A man walking near San Francisco's Stern Grove was critically injured when he was struck by a vehicle this morning, according to a fire official.

The man, believed to be between 20 and 30 years old, was hit around 7:35 a.m. near 20th Avenue and Wawona Street, the fire official said.

The man was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, the official said.

The driver remained at the scene, she said.

A car struck a 12-year-old boy Tuesday night when he entered a road in Pacifica between two parked cars, police said Wednesday.

The collision was reported at 9:33 p.m. in the 400 block of Monterey Road.

The boy was taken to a hospital to be treated for a leg injury that is not considered life-threatening, police said.

A preliminary investigation by police indicated that the boy entered the roadway by walking in between parked vehicles. Speed does not appear to be a factor in the collision, according to police.

Two men were killed early Monday in Sonoma County when a Honda Civic broadsided a power pole, apparently after the driver fell asleep, authorities said.

At 2:45 a.m., the driver failed to negotiate a right-hand curve on northbound Petaluma Hill Road, north of Hunter Lane, and slammed sideways into a power pole, ejecting the right rear passenger into the roadway and splitting the vehicle in two, said the California Highway Patrol.

An 8-year-old girl died in a crash that injured three others on state Highway 85 in Cupertino on Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash was on northbound Highway 85 north of De Anza Boulevard around 3:30 p.m., the CHP said. The driver of a Jeep Wrangler made an unsafe turn to the right that sent the vehicle to the right shoulder and up a raised dirt embankment, according to the CHP. The Jeep Wrangler then struck a Mazda stopped at the right shoulder, the CHP said.
