A man who drove into a San Francisco Municipal Railway bus stop and seriously injured a woman in The City's Mission Terrace neighborhood Friday night was allegedly under the influence, a police spokesman said today.
Virgilio Aquino Jr., 44, of San Francisco, was arrested after allegedly driving his car into a bus stop at Mission Street and Silver Avenue around 9:35 p.m. Friday, according to a San Francisco police spokesman.
Aquino hit a 42-year-old woman, who was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
Alcohol may have been a factor in a crash on Almaden Expressway Thursday that sent two drivers to the hospital and closed a stretch of Almaden Expressway just south of Highway 85 as the morning commute was getting underway, San Jose police said.
Two vehicles going through the intersection of Coleman Road and Almaden Expressway just after 12 a.m. collided, sending both drivers to the hospital, said San Jose police Sgt. Matt Christian.

One person was killed and one injured Wednesday evening when a sailboat taking part in a race near Redwood City collided with a channel marker buoy, a U.S. Coast Guard spokesman said.
The Coast Guard learned shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday evening that a 42-foot Catalina sailboat had collided with a marker buoy in a channel outside Redwood City, according to Coast Guard Lt. j.g. Mark Leahey.
The boat, which was involved in a race hosted by a local yacht club, had struck the buoy and become entangled, Leahey said.
A 62-year-old man carrying cans of beer while crossing a street in Redwood City was struck and killed by a car early Monday, authorities said.
The victim, later identified as Miguel Ramirez, a Redwood City resident, was apparently intoxicated when he tried to cross Middlefield Road north of Dumbarton Avenue about 2 a.m., said an Officer with the California Highway Patrol.
He was hit by a Nissan and died at the scene. His name has not been released.

Emergency responders received reports of the crash at 43rd Avenue and Fulton Street at 11:43 a.m., according to the fire department.
The boy was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
A pedestrian was struck and injured by a vehicle in San Francisco on Friday morning near the Stockton Tunnel, police said.
Police stated the collision happened just after 6 a.m. at Stockton and California Streets.
Witness reports indicate the driver failed to stop at the red light.
The driver stopped and remained at the scene.
The victim suffered upper body injuries and was transported to San Francisco General Hospital.
