The victim, later identified as Miguel Ramirez, a Redwood City resident, was apparently intoxicated when he tried to cross Middlefield Road north of Dumbarton Avenue about 2 a.m., said an Officer with the California Highway Patrol.
He was hit by a Nissan and died at the scene. His name has not been released.
The driver, a 32-year-old man whose listed address is in Rochester, N.Y., stopped after the crash and cooperated with investigators, police said. The motorist did not appear to be under the influence of any substance, authorities said.
