An 18-year-old Junction City woman died and two people were injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash Saturday afternoon in Manhattan. Cheyanne Olivia Higgins was pronounced deceased at the crash site on Stagg Hill Road. The driver was listed in stable condition Sunday at Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan. A male passenger was transported to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka, but there is no word on his current condition.

A 43-year-old Topeka man, Brian F. Benson, died early Monday in a single-vehicle, rollover accident in Lyon County, Kansas. Lyon County sheriff’s Deputy Steve Dall found Benson in his black, 1998 Ford Escort car on its top at the junction of K-99 and Road L, just north of Emporia. Benson was found unconscious and with no pulse still in the driver’s seat wearing his seat belt.

The fatal crash occurred at 6:15 a.m. Sunday at 7000 Laurel Canyon Road, when a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu was southbound on Laurel Canyon Road when it drove off the end of the roadway at a dead end. The car then rolled and came to rest on its top. The car’s driver, Ronald E. Stump Jr., 35, of Bellville, was pronounced deceased at the crash site. Both passengers, Wesley A. Peters, 33, of Belleville, and Kayleen J. Notter, 26, of Belllview, were transported to Geary Community Hospital in Junction City.

A 17-year-old McLouth teenager was killed Saturday in a two-vehicle crash in Jefferson County. The collision happened about 4:30 p.m. on K-16 highway just east of Oskaloosa. The teenager, identified as Hunter Levi Terrell, 17, was driving west when he lost control of his vehicle as he passed another car. Terrell was re-entering his lane after passing the pickup when he lost control of his Honda Civic, skidded broadside and was struck by an eastbound Chevrolet Suburban. Terrell was killed in the collision.

Two people were killed Sunday night in a two-vehicle crash in Ellsworth County. Two passengers in the Durango died in the crash. William A. Rabas, 64, and Delores L. Rabas, 56, both of Russell, were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither was wearing a seat belt.

Two Labette County residents died in a head-on collision Wednesday morning, south of Parsons. The Kansas Highway Patrol said that vehicles driven by Timothy P. Schartz, 64, and Misty R. Chalker, 41, crashed shortly before 9 a.m. along U-59, about 4 miles north of the highway’s junction with U-160. Schartz’s 2011 GMC Terrain SUV was northbound on the highway when it crossed the center line for “unknown reasons” and struck Chalker’s 2013 Ford Fusion, KHP said in a crash report; Chalker was southbound on U-59 at the time. Schartz was a resident of Altamont, KHP said. Chalker lived in Parsons.
