I-5 southbound

51-year-old Michael P. Thompson was southbound on I-5 when he attempted to illegally pass a car in the left-hand shoulder and ended up striking the guardrail. His car then collided with Douffet's car before hitting a semi-truck driven by Daniel P.

 An SUV driver died Friday after veering off southbound I-5 in Josephine County, Oregon, and crashing into a tree head-on. Speed may have been a factor in the crash.

Interstate 5 southbound was closed about 3 miles north of Albany just after 8:30 Thursday morning after several crashes involving up to 20 total vehicles were reported on the snowy freeway, transportation officials said.
