One person was taken to the hospital after the car he was driving struck a tree in Enfield.

According to police, a car being driven by Robert Allen, 25 of Enfield, left the road and struck a tree on Route 5 near the intersection of Post Office Road.

Firefighters used a metal-cutting tool to remove the roof of a car and free the driver after a collision on Route 5 north Tuesday sent two people to the hospital and closed the busy road to traffic for a while, officials said.

Police are investigating the four-car crash that sent two people to the hospital in Wallingford on Friday night.
