Coroner: Construction worker struck, killed along I-59NB near Steele

The Etowah County Coroner's Office says a construction worker died Thursday evening after being struck along I-59 northbound between Steele and Attalla. According to the Etowah County Coroner Michael Head, a car struck a construction worker, 44-year-old Joshua Goodwyn of Hanceville. The coroner says the men were removing barrels from the roadway after finishing a day of construction on some new guardrails on I-59. Another worker was airlifted to UAB Hospital but his injuries are reported to be non life-threatening. Head says Goodwyn was reported dead at the scene.

1 dead, 1 injured after wreck in Etowah County

The Alabama State Troopers are currently investigating a wreck in Etowah County that happened on Interstate 59 at mile marker 178. The crash was in the northbound lanes at 4:58 p.m. One person was killed and one other was injured. No further information is available at this time.

Construction worker hit, killed on I59

Authorities say a construction worker has been killed, and another worker injured, when they were struck by a vehicle during an accident in a construction zone on Interstate 59 near Attalla. Daniel says Goodwyn's death was the 11th traffic fatality in the state in the past seven days. Senior Trooper Chuck Daniel tells local media that the accident occurred Thursday afternoon, near Attalla, when a vehicle hit a message board that the two workers were walking towards to remove. The unidentified 23-year-old worker was airlifted to a hospital. Etowah County Coroner Michael Head identified the deceased man as 44-year-old Joshua Goodwyn.
