A man was killed Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Birmingham, authorities said today.

A man was killed Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Birmingham, authorities said today.

Damion Ratcliff, 36, was the driver and lone occupant in a GMC van that was traveling in the 200 block of 48th Street about 8:30 a.m. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office said he lost control of the van, hit a road sign, swerved back into the roadway, hit two parked vehicles and then flipped.

Ratcliff was partially ejected from the van and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said they don't know what caused Ratcliff to leave the roadway.
