UAB student in critical condition after being struck twice by hit-and-run driver

"I walked over there to see what was going on and they were bringing the girl in on a stretcher. And I saw a bike and I said, 'OMG. This is actually happening right now,'" she said.
At about 8:00pm, Schiller began to cross the road with her bike, but the light had just turned green for crossing traffic and a car struck her once, knocking her over, and then ran over her as it left the scene. While Schiller did not have the right of way, the driver of the car that hit her will likely face charges of failure to render aid and leaving the scene of an accident. Schiller was left in critical condition, though is expected to survive.
