17-year-old female driver and a police officer injured, after a two car crash near Shades Valley High School in Irondale.

A police officer and teenager are both expected to be okay after a crash Friday morning.

The incident happened just after 8:00 a.m. on Old Leeds Road near Shades Valley High School.

Authorities say the officer noticed a vehicle speeding and tried to make a u-turn to catch up with the driver.

That’s when he hit a car, attempting to pass him on his left lane.

A 17 year old female was inside the vehicle. She was taken to the hospital to be checked out.
