3 people killed, 1 injured in Cherokee County

Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver said three people were killed and another was wounded shortly after midnight Monday at a home on County Road 656 near the Round Mountain community. This case is being investigated by the Cherokee County Major Crimes Unit. Officers from all local police agencies, Cherokee County Major Crimes Unit, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, and Coroner Jeremy Deaton responded to the scene. He was treated at a hospital and currently is being held in the Cherokee County Detention Center on charges of capital murder, first degree kidnapping, first degree criminal mischief, and attempting to elude. As authorities were responding to the scene, the suspect fled and hit a deputy’s vehicle.
