Child killed in wreck in front of Hampton Cove Elementary

A 5-year-old child was killed and two other children remain in Huntsville Hospital. A third child suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to a hospital in Birmingham. Their ages range from 3 to 9-years-old.

One child was killed, and three others were seriously injured in a wreck in front of Hampton Cove Elementary School.

Police said four kids and a woman were in a black Yukon that was involved in the collision with an 18-wheel dump truck around 2 p.m. Monday.

A 5-year-old child was killed and two other children remain in Huntsville Hospital. A third child suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to a hospital in Birmingham. Their ages range from 3 to 9-years-old.

"I heard the impact and the next thing I saw was the truck in the air," said Jacquelyn Butler, who was driving ahead of the SUV.

The children's mother had serious injuries. All of the victims were taken to the hospital.
