Alcohol, no seat belts were factors in fatal wreck in Jackson County

A man was killed and another injured in a single-vehicle crash in Jackson County Wednesday evening. "Although the circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation, Alabama State Troopers say alcohol was a factor," remarked the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. Alabama State Troopers report that a 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck left the roadway and struck an embankment. Troopers say neither Nichols nor the driver was using a seat belt. The crash occurred on Alabama 35 inside Scottsboro city limits at approximately 6:20 p.m.
