Teen injured in Wednesday night wreck critical.

A teenager injured in a wreck Wednesday night is in critical condition at Huntsville Hospital, officials said this morning.

A teenager injured in a wreck Wednesday night is in critical condition at Huntsville Hospital, officials said this morning.

Hospital officials said David “Bubba” Smith, 17, Tuscumbia, is in the facility’s surgical intensive care unit.

State troopers said Smith was injured in a one-car accident that happened on Woodmont Drive, at the base of Colbert Heights Mountain.

Smith was flown from the scene by Air- Evac.

The accident was reported at 8:15 p.m.

Troopers said Smith was driving a 2003 Pontiac that left the roadway and crashed.

A passenger in the car, Cody Martin, 18, Tuscumbia, was also injured.

Authorities said Martin was taken to Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield, where he was treated and later released.

The accident is under investigation by the Quad-Cities State Troopers Post.
