Talladega man dies from injuries in Montgomery traffic crash

A Talladega man died on Wednesday as the result of injuries he suffered in a Saturday night traffic crash on Eastern Boulevard in Montgomery. The driver of the Dodge Nitro also suffered non-life threatening injuries. Michael Spurlin, 69, suffered what was first believed to be non-life threatening injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Eastern Boulevard at Carmichael Road at around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, according to Montgomery police. The crash involved a 1999 Lincoln Continental, driven by Spurlin, and a 2011 Dodge Nitro. Spurlin's condition was downgraded on Wednesday, and he died at a Montgomery hospital.

Spurlin was taken to a hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, but after hospitalization, his condition deteriorated. Investigators with the Montgomery Police Department say one of the victims who was injured in a January 2 car crash has died at an area hospital. The driver of the Dodge was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash. Michael Spurlin, 69, of Talladega, was injured when his 1999 Lincoln Continental and a 2011 Dodge Nitro collided on the Eastern Boulevard at Carmichael Road.
