One dead, one injured in Richardson Highway accident

One man died and a woman was medically evacuated this morning after a 2:22 a.m. rollover crash on the Richardson Highway near the Fairbanks-side of the Badger Road exit, according to Alaska State Troopers. Troopers have not yet named the male passenger killed in the crash but have notified his next of kin, according to a trooper news release. According to troopers' investigation, 21-year-old Matthew York of North Pole was driving a Chrysler minivan southbound when he lost control of the van near 356 Mile Richardson Highway, causing the van to roll several times. Troopers believe York fell asleep before crashing but are still investigating.
What every family needs to know about wrongful death claims: When someone dies as the result of an accident, family members must make many decisions, and a wrongful death claim often needs to be filed. Often a claim can be filed only by certain family members, and there are strict requirements and deadlines that must be met. It is critically important to speak with a wrongful death attorney to get information on a victim’s rights and options.
