Local musician Keli Rutledge killed in Gilbert crash

An up and coming local musician, 18-year-old Keli Rutledge, died in a crash Friday night. Announcement of her passing came from other local musicians as they got word of what had happened.

Rutledge finished in the top five of the Arizona Idol competition as a freshman in high school according to her Facebook page. She had at least three public shows scheduled for March, including one at Songbird Coffee & Tea House.

After a performance of “Man in the Mirror” by the Solid Rock Dance Company, they paid bittersweet tribute to Keli May Rutledge, the teen singer who won the Alice Cooper Proof is in the Pudding contest in November and was killed in a car accidentfour months later. The tribute included a recording of Rutledge performing a very emotional religious song in that soulful voice that helped her win the competition.
