60-year-old man killed after being struck by pickup outside of crosswalk on Bethany Home Road in Glendale, Arizona

A 60-year-old pedestrian was killed early Monday after a truck struck him as he was crossing a street in Glendale, authorities said. The accident occurred near 43rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road just after 7 a.m. when an 81-year-old Glendale man driving a pickup truck hit a pedestrian who was jay walking, according the Glendale Fire Department. The pedestrian, a 60-year-old man whose name has not been released until family can be notified, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. Speed and impairment were not factors in the crash. The collision closed Bethany Home road but it was expected to reopen after 11 a.m.
