Glendale police say the accident happened off the roadway and involved a vehicle called a "rock crawler."

According to investigators, 40-year-old Jeovanny Mendieta was driving the rock crawler off road near 99th and Glendale avenues when he tried to negotiate a turn and rolled the vehicle.
Two men were riding the an off-road vehicle near 99th and Glendale avenues around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday when the driver, identified as Jeovanny Mendieta, 40, failed to properly negotiate a curve, which cause the vehicle to flip. Mendieta was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, a 27-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
