Man, 58, killed in 2-vehicle crash in Phoenix
A 58-year-old man has died after he allegedly rolled through a stop sign at North 35th Avenue and collided with another vehicle.
Alejandro Arturo Montes was headed eastbound on West Monte Vista Road about 6 p.m. Thursday when he failed to stop or yield at the sign posted on 35th Avenue, Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Tommy Thompson said.
Montes' vehicle crashed into a Toyota 4Runner, which was headed southbound. Then a blue or black van collided into Montes' vehicle. The van fled the scene and was not located, Thompson said.
Montes was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries. A man in his vehicle ran from the incident and has not be located or identified, according to Thompson.
An 18-year-old woman driving the Toyota 4Runner and her 14-year-old passenger both had minor injuries.
