A motorcyclist who was killed by a hit-and-run driver Monday morning was a physician at Phoenix Children's Hospital.

At the time of his death, Arceci was hematology/oncology division chief at Phoenix Children's Hospital and co-director of the hospital's Ronald A. Matricaria Institute of Molecular Medicine, which uses genomic medicine to aid children with hard-to-treat cancers.

Authorities are still searching for the truck driver who fled the scene. He is described as a Hispanic male last seen wearing  a blue short sleeve shirt and jeans.

But his work didn't end there. Arceci was the director of the Ronald A. Matricaria Institute of Molecular Medicine at Phoenix Children's Hospital. He had written a book,Cancer Genomics: From Bench to Personalized Medicine, and was considered and international authority in pediatric oncology.
Dr. Robert Arceci was riding a motorcycle to his job at the Phoenix Children's Hospital when a landscaping truck hit him while it was attempting to make a left turn. The truck pulled over and two people remained at the scene, but the man believed to be the driver fled before police could arrive. Arceci died at the scene. No one in the truck was hurt.
