The elderly man died at the scene and police found the abandoned car about a mile from the scene near Mariposa and Granite Reed Road. The Prius had sustained heavy damage as a result of the collision.

The pedestrian, later identified as Sloan Jackson Harper from Alabama, died at the scene. The driver of the Toyota Prius fled the scene.
The vehicle was found abandoned and parked in the area of Mariposa Drive and Granite Reef Road. The vehicle had significant damage from the collision.
