An Arkansas State Police report by Cpl. Clinton Evans said Brasel with his wife, Rebecca, both 51 of Everton, as a passenger was eastbound on Highway 27 in a 2009 Chevrolet, while James R. Russell, 67, of Mountain Home was westbound in a 2000 Honda.

James Russell, 67, of Mountain Home was driving a 2000 Honda west on Arkansas 27 when he attempted to negotiate a curve, crossed over the centerline and struck a 2009 Chevrolet traveling east, state police said. The wreck occurred at 8:32 p.m. Monday.
James R. Russell was driving on Arkansas Highway 27 at around 8:30 p.m. when the road turned to the right, and he crossed the centerline, hitting another vehicle. In the other vehicle was Jeffery and Rebecca Brasel who were injured and taken to a hospital in Harrison. Russell died in the crash. The road was wet at the time of the crash.
