Frank David Romero, 42, dead after two-vehicle collision on Highway 178 in Bakersfield, CA; Other driver fled scene

At about 1:58am, Romero was driving in the center lane of Highway 178 near Haley Street and Bernard Street, when he collided with a car that was in the lane to his left. The collision caused Romero's vehicle to spin and flip over, and he was pronounced dead after being taken to Kern Medical Center. The driver of the other vehicle drove away from the scene. Police are uncertain exactly what caused the accident or if alcohol or high speed were factors.
