Woman injured after her car crashes down a 400 foot embankment on State Route 241 in the Santiago Canyon area of Orange County.
Driver Rescued After Crash Down Rocky Embankment.
A driver was rescued from the wreckage of a crumpled car Wednesday morning after she crashed about 400 feet down a rugged embankment off an Orange County toll road.
Fire-rescue crews stabilized the car with a heavy duty tow strap and extricated the driver after the crash off Route 241 in the Santiago Canyon area, about 15 miles southeast of Anaheim.
A witness told the authorities the vehicle went over the side of the State Route 241 toll road, just north of Route 261. The vehicle rolled to a stop in tree branches before fire-rescue crew members arrived to secure the car by wrapping the tow strap around its undercarriage and attaching the other end of the strap to a tree above the crash site.
Aerial video showed fire-rescue crew members carrying the victim on a stretcher from a rocky embankment below an overpass. Details regarding the woman's condition were not immediately available, but officials with the Orange County Fire Authority described her injuries as moderate.
