Seabee died when military vehicles collided on 5 freeway near Camp Pendleton

The convoy carrying members of the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion was headed south on the freeway near Camp Pendleton’s northern end shortly before 7 a.m. when at least one of the five 7-ton trucks slowed for unknown reasons, causing the others to collide, California Highway Patrol officials said.

The 26-year-old serviceman died at the scene of the wreck, the CHP reported. His name was withheld pending family notification.

Equipment Operator 3rd Class Aaron Fish, from Tully, New York, was a Seabee who served with the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 5 at Port Hueneme in Ventura. He had recently been meritoriously promoted to Petty Officer 3rd Class.
