Passenger Killed in Suspected DUI Crash
The Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD) said the DUI suspect struck a tree in a center median on East H Street at Rutgers Avenue just after 12:30 a.m. The vehicle drifted across the eastbound lanes before coming to rest in on a sidewalk.

1 Killed in Suspected DUI Street Racing Crash
Both drivers involved in the alleged street racing that led to the crash were arrested on suspicion of DUI, the Chula Vista Police Department said.

On 10/08/16, the decedent was the unrestrained passenger of a small sedan that was reportedly racing another vehicle in the westbound lanes of East H Street in Chula Vista. As the two vehicles were traveling at a high rate of speed, the driver of the small sedan that was occupied by the decedent lost control of the vehicle and struck a multiple trees located in the center median.
