Boy struck, killed by car identified
El Cajon police said Angel stepped into the road from behind a parked car. The 18-year-old driver who hit the boy with his Hyundai sedan was unable to stop in time.
Angel Cruz, 7, was struck by a Hyundai sedan on Peach Avenue at about 3:45 p.m. Thursday. First responders transported Angel to Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego, where he died shortly after 12:30 a.m. The driver of the Hyundai, Mark Isak, 18, immediately stopped and cooperated with authorities. Intoxication was not believed to have been a factor in the crash, and Isak was not expected to be cited. Isak was driving to work at the time of the tragic collision.
