Man killed, after losing control of his pickup, traveling at high speed on Monument Road in the Tijuana River Valley, hitting the curb and a rock and then overturning.

A man who San Diego police said was traveling a high rate of speed was killed Friday in a crash in the Tijuana River Valley.

The accident occurred about 3:30 p.m. on Monument Road, police Officer Frank Cali said.

The driver lost control of his vehicle and hit a raised asphalt curb and a rock. The 1998 Toyota Tacoma pickup then rolled off the road, the officer said.

The man died at the scene from head injuries, Cali said.

His name was not yet released by the Medical Examiner’s Officer.
