Daniel Boe, 25, killed, when his SUV drifted into the median on I-8 eastbound near El Centro and overturned.

A 25-year old Poway man died after his SUV crashed on an El Centro freeway early Friday morning, CHP officials said.

The man has been identified as Daniel Boe, said an Imperial County coroner’s official.

Boe lost control of his 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee while traveling westbound on Interstate 8, west of Forrester Road, said a CHP Officer.

He drove into the dirt center divider and his SUV overturned on eastbound lanes of I-8 and landed on its roof on the shoulder on the other side of the freeway.

The CHP received a call about debris in the road and officers found Boe and his SUV on the side of the road about 2:45 a.m.,police said. Paramedics declared Boe dead at 3 a.m.

Police said the freeway is sparsely traveled at that hour and there were no witnesses to the crash.

CHP officials said the roads were dry at the time of the crash. Investigators did not immediately know if drugs or alcohol were involved.
