Pilot Killed In Small Plane Crash Identified.

The pilot killed in a small plane crash in northern Douglas County Wednesday evening has been identified. Gregory Dirk Pelley from Englewood died in the fiery crash.

The Aurora Police are on the scene after a small plane crashed near Otero Drive and East Phillips Place Wednesday afternoon.

The only person on board on the plane, later identified as Gregory Dirk Pelley, 53, was killed, according to South Metro Fire Rescue Authority.

On Twitter, police asked the public to stay out of the area. The crash was originally reported to be in Aurora, but later determined to be in Douglas County.

Witnesses stated that the plane was performing stunts before the crash.

The crash sparked a grass fire near the Blackstone Country Club, but police said no structures appeared to be in danger. The Aurora Fire Department confirmed on Twitter that its crews were on the scene.

UPDATE: The aircraft involved in this accident had twin engines, not one, as stated in the title. 03/21/14.
