4 killed after small plane en route to Outer Banks crashes into building

NBC affiliate WVIT reports that there was evidence of a mechanical failure during takeoff, according to police, and the plane hit the ground and then a Trumpf building on Hyde Road, in Farmington, Conn.

The Federal Aviation Administration reported that a Cessna Citation 560X business jet taking off from Robertson Airport in Plainville crashed into a building at the Trumpf Inc. manufacturing company in Farmington around 10 a.m.

Police release names of 4 who died in Connecticut plane crash

Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont, who visited the scene to survey the damage, tweeted, “My prayers are with those on the ground and with the souls on board.”

NTSB: Parking brake not released on plane that crashed in Farmington, killing 4 people

According to the NTSB, the parking brake handle in the cockpit, and the respective valve that it controlled, were both found in the brake set position.
