Two People Hospitalized After Crash With Driver Fleeing Police

Police arrested New London resident Richard Miller, 51, after he led police on a pursuit after a motor vehicle stop. Police pulled Miller over on Colman Street to address that his headlights weren't on, but he sped away in the southbound direction when the officer approached him to talk, police said. After running a red light in the process at the intersection with Bank Street, he struck a car heading westbound.
Power lines were knocked down as a result of the crash. The two people in the vehicle struck by Miller were taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London to be treated for serious injuries. Miller was charged with two counts of interfering with police and officers are holding him in custody on a $10,000 bond.
